Three basic steps for our visitors

Dear visitors,

Prior to your visit, please do follow the following three steps:

Step 1, deadline Tuesday, February 23rd, 2010.
Confirm through your school:  your hotel reservation (Camino Real or Wyndham Garden) / arrival and departure date to the hotel
Make sure your school has sent us this information, if we do not have the details there's a chance that your reservation isn't properly registered, and the last thing we want is an unpleasant arrival experience!

Step 2; deadline Sunday, March 7th, 2010
Study your cases.  Through your schools, we are sending today three different cases: “Scotia Bank a merge of two cultures”, “Modelo” and “Gas Metropolitano”, please make sure you receive them before hand and you study them before your arrival to Mexico. You will be having the case study sessions on Monday, March 8th and Tuesday 9th, 2010.

Step 3; double-check the weather cast, deadline before you pack.
Mexico is known for its good warm temperature, but hey! nothing's as unpredictable as the weather! it might as well get a bit chilly during the winter. Since this is a personal perception, please check de weather cast before coming.

Cheers!

Social action

It's a well known fact that Mexico has high levels of poverty, and that, asa country, there's still a lot of work to be done in terms of social welfare. It's IPADE's gamble to form socialaware leaders who will be able to do big things and promote the big changesthis country needs...

But small things are needed as well, and somethimes it's also a good thing to get hands-on and do some work in the communities. So here are some pics of the latest activity:

A group of about a dozen participants went to a community in the state of Morelos, led by professor Ramón Ibarra. This activity was two weeks ago, it started on friday afternoon (right after the last session of the day is over, at around 3pm) and ended on sunday noon.

As we were saying, poverty is painfully common in our country, so much that most houses in this community don't even have a concrete floor:they get to live in wooden houses with dirt floors. Dirt floors lead to unhealthy life conditions, which leads to diseases, especially among children and elder people. So one of the activities due for this ocasion was to get some concrete floors for these houses, let's see how that worked out

Here we have the "initial state": all dirt

And here is the crew that will make it happen for this house. Left to right, we got Ivan, Eugenio, Alex and Rod, allof them 1st year participants

Our crew begins by making the "mix", making sure it has the right consistency.

Next up, the actual placing of the concrete

... a few hours later, ta-da!! a concrete floor, done

They also took some gifts fr the kids. Of course, the greatest gift is not the toy,but the smile of the kid who gets it.

There was also some home visiting, where the participants go to the actual homes of the inhabitants and deliver the much needed help

Here we see Dr Ramón Ibarra (left) during the home visiting... it's amazing the amountof energy he has!!

This activities take place about once a month. In order to have continuity, these social activities focus on one community for some time, meaning we will keep on visiting this very same town so the impact until the life quality has improved enough. Kudos to the IPADE crew

P.S. The crew is up for another visit this weekend, fundraising took place among the executive education participants, and the funds will be used to keep on improving the community. Good luck to them!
